Ubuntu Communitheme theme 2018

You may not have heard that Ubuntu 18.04 LTS coming with a default new theme. It based on default Adwaita theme with the dark header and the color of Ubuntu (Orange). This theme is still in developing stage, not even included in Ubuntu 18.04 LTS (Bionic Beaver) daily build.

How to Install New Theme in Ubuntu 17.10 Or 18.04 LTS?

  • You need to add the PPA to your repository. It contains the entire Communitheme session including the Gnome Shell, GTK and icon theme. To do so, open the terminal and run command.
    sudo add-apt-repository ppa:communitheme/ppa
  • Download the list of available software in your repo.
    sudo apt update
  • Now you can install the theme using this command.
    sudo apt install ubuntu-communitheme-session

set gnome tweaks Communitheme

After finishing, restart your PC and set the communitheme from appearance. For more help, you can see the screenshot.

Ubuntu Communitheme builds by the Community. Whether it will be the default theme for 18.04 LTS or not, but you can use it using this way. As the theme is improving step by step, then you can run the update and upgrade using the following command to get latest updates.

sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
